Dr. Deepak Kapila is Additional Director Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Hospital in Amritsar. He has over 10 years' experience and has extensive expertise in Coronary & Peripheral Angioplasties including Renal and Carotid interventions; Balloon Valvuloplasties; Paediatric interventions including device implantation (ASD & PDA closure) for congenital cardiac defects; and, Pacemaker, ICD and Biventricular device implantations.

Dr. Deepak Kapila holds an MBBS (1984-1989) from Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, which he completed with awards and honours for topping the University in several subjects. He obtained an MD in 1993, after completing his postgraduate residency training in the subject of Internal Medicine, also at GNDU. Dr. Kapila chose to specialise in Cardiology and trained intensively in this field for three years at Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre in New Delhi, for the DNB (Cardiology) superspeciality degree, which he received in 2001. He worked as Senior Resident in Cardiology from 1994-1997 and as Attending Cardiologist from 1997-2002, gaining experience in Invasive as well as Non-Invasive Cardiology. 

Dr. Kapila completed a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the world-renowned Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York, USA, in 2004-05. During the Fellowship he trained in complex coronary & peripheral interventions including Rotablations, Artificial Heart (Tandem Heart), etc. Dr. Kapila is also a Fellow of the International Medical Sciences Academy (FIMSA). IMSA is an Associate Member of the Council for International Organisations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS), Geneva. This organisation ensures quality standards of the highest order in the practice of Medicine.

Dr. Deepak Kapila has actively participated in many Clinical Trials in the field of Interventional Cardiology and has multiple publications to his credit in national and international journals.
